About
KD26 was a working fine artist and cartoonist before the internet existed. In 1994, they helped start one of Minnesota's first internet providers, and their Photoshop skills carried them into one of the state's earliest web design careers, working under a persona borrowed from a comic character they'd invented years earlier.
These days their art looks a lot more analog. Since March 2026, they've been leaving small handmade paintings at Arty Arty. KD26 does a lot of their work from their car parked by the tracks. Keep an eye out and you might just catch them working on their next piece. It was during one such session that the inspiration for these pieces came, watching people walk past with their heads down in their phones. "They were really just intended as a joke at the start," KD26 says, "and I'm still trying to develop the best silhouette."
For someone who had a brief stretch of early-internet notoriety, they admit they were "never really good at self-promotion." They just make things until people notice, which is roughly how this site found them too.
There's a line of rune-like symbols along the top of this sign. They're written in Young Futhark because of a fascination KD26 picked up during seven years living in Sweden. They loosely translate to "danger." "It's not perfect," KD26 says, "but I'm going to keep working on these." Others in the series: I am not looking, Alert Blind, Alert, Slow, and Zombies. This sign is mounted on the Leucadia Signpost.
