Finished in March 2026, after two years of working on it on and off, this piece is by Hilary Bell, who worked as the kitchen and front-of-house assistant manager at Leucadia Corner Pizza for its first five years, passing its blank walls daily, during her shifts.
"Living in Leucadia is a magical place, and I would look at those blank walls daily as I worked, and I just wanted to add something fun to them. In keeping with the black-and-white theme of the pizzeria, and the wildness of the restroom there (created by local graffiti artist, Leucadia Vandal)," Bell says.
"I wanted to create something that was fun, but not too flashy, a really mellow background to enhance the space. Kinda funny too because most of my art is full of color, so creating this was really fun and different for me."
Bell grew up in the Bay Area, spent 21 years in Leucadia, and now lives in Cardiff with her two teenage daughters; she also teaches art and cooking from kindergarten through high school.
