Taylor Chapin grew up visiting Leucadia Donut Shoppe as a kid. In October 2022 she transformed its south wall, plain white stucco for 36 years, with a bold patterned mural: a figure covered head-to-toe in blue and white wave patterns, reclining on a pink striped towel above a sea of geometric triangles. Chapin holds an MFA from UC San Diego (2022) and now lives in Oceanside; her wider practice examines American consumer culture and the construction of value. She also serves as executive director of Murals of La Jolla.
