Taylor Chapin grew up visiting Leucadia Donut Shoppe as a kid. In October 2022 she transformed its south wall — plain white stucco for 36 years — with a bold patterned mural: a figure covered head-to-toe in blue and white wave patterns, reclining on a pink striped towel above a sea of geometric triangles. Chapin holds an MFA from UC San Diego (2022) and now lives in Oceanside; her wider practice examines American consumer culture and the construction of value.
