About
Casey O'Connell came to Leucadia from San Francisco for a surf trip and never left, drawn in by the waves at Beacon's Beach and coffee on the 101. She settled into a cul-de-sac on Hygeia Street, where she grew so close with her neighbors that they started a gang, Hygeia Love. That closeness inspired "Unrelated Family I," her original painting. Painted in 2015 to coincide with LeucadiART Walk, this mural, "Unrelated Family II," marks her first year in town: O'Connell depicted herself climbing a ladder to add one more number to a tally of the local population. As for the fox in the piece, Casey says it represents her intuition, whenever it shows up, she knows she's on the right path.
