Hermes Surfing Ponto
Location
First apartment building on the right after the pink house
About
Painted in February 2026 by Micaiah Hardison, a Leucadia native who grew up a few yards from the surf and has spent his career painting the sea in oil. The location is the joke: Hermes, Greek messenger god, caduceus in hand, surfs a perfect wave on the wall of an apartment building on the street that shares his name. Leucadia itself takes its name from Lefkada, the Greek island whose white cliffs gave rise to the legend of the poet Sappho's fatal leap into the sea, so Hardison's first idea was true to the town's namesake: Sappho hurling herself from the cliffs, lyre in hand. He opted for "a more positive Greek theme" instead.
