Based on "The Push," a 1986 photograph by J. Grant Brittain of skater Tod Swank gliding through a shaft of light under the I-5 overpass in Del Mar. Brittain and art director David Carson pushed for the stripped-down, anonymous shot to run on the cover of Transworld Skateboarding's June 1987 issue, over objections from editorial staff who thought it lacked drama, and it went on to become one of skateboarding's most iconic images. Design credit for the mural goes to Craig "Scrojo" Haskett, longtime resident poster artist at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. Hanna Daly painted this rendition in September 2025 and took three days to complete.
